Hot Springs Loft Apartments
The
Hot Springs High School Lofts consist of the historic restoration of the
Hot Springs High School building, the high school of former President Bill
Clinton, into thirty-two (32) loft-style apartments and the adjoining auditorium
for public use and to house two restored classrooms containing Clinton
memorabilia. President Clinton graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1964,
and the school operated at the project site
until 1968.
The
ARC Arkansas utilizes unique "universal design" features which afford
accessibility for
disabled and aging individuals. The universal design concept creates living
environments where those persons who are aging or disabled can live in settings
with their non-disabled peers, as well as support the integration mandate of the
Americans with Disabilities Act and the U.S. Supreme Court decision of Olmstead
v. LC.

The adjoining auditorium will be restored and utilized for public events and
will boast two restored classrooms with memorabilia of President Clinton's days
as a student.
This project is located in a qualified census tract. In addition to preserving
an historic structure, the project will provide uniquely designed, high quality
housing for low income, disabled and aging individuals, a primary mission of The
ARC. The units will be desirable to individuals with median or higher incomes as
well because of their size, quality, affordability and close proximity to the
Central Avenue Historic District, Bathhouse Row, shopping, entertainment,
hospitals and other services. The refurbished auditorium and restored classrooms
will provide a forum for public events and a viable tourist attraction..
