Art for Arc's Sake double the success!

The Arc Arkansas held its annual Art for Arc's Sake just after the opening of Eastside Lofts Phase II.  Guests were treated to a number of artists from around the area and from the Arc's  own consumers.  The event was spread throughout the newly renovated building, allowing guests to see another completed project by The Arc Arkansas.  Pictures from the event can be seen by clicking here.

Eastside Lofts Phase II is OPEN!

Eastside Lofts Phase II was opened today with a full audience standing in what used to be the front row seats in the auditorium.  The speakers were appropriately speaking from the location of what once was the stage.

Eastside Lofts Phase II  - Thursday, January 17th will mark the day of yet another remarkable restoration of a historical building in Little Rock, Arkansas by The Arc of Arkansas.  The benefit of restoring these properties is two fold, one, preserving important landmarks and two, providing affordable housing options for individuals with and without disabilities.  Each property is a true reflection of everyday life, where people of all abilities live as a community of one.

A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for noon on the steps of the Eastside II project (formerly the auditorium).  The same evening the annual Art for Arc's sake will be held from 5pm - 9pm in the newly restored building.  Come see why the Arc of Arkansas is nationally recognized for its efforts to preserve these historic properties under the "universal design model".

The Arc Arkansas purchases Majestic Hotel in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

The ARC plans to restore and rehabilitate with historic accuracy the Majestic complex into multiple-use facilities including residential and commercial developments.

The 124-year-old Majestic has long-anchored the intersection of Park and Central Avenues in historic downtown Hot Springs and was one of the South’s most famous spa hotels.  The hotel complex sits on over 5 acres.

Prior to its sale, the hotel was owned by Southwest Hotels, Inc., a privately held company whose Hot Springs holdings include The Arlington Hotel and The Hot Springs Country Club.

“It’s important that the Majestic Hotel is part of the revitalization of downtown Hot Springs,” Monty Scott said.  “The ARC is renowned for renovating historic structures and we are confident that they will preserve the integrity of the buildings as they undergo transformation.  We are excited the ARC will restore this Hot Springs landmark.  They envision a multi-million-dollar investment of residential and commercial development  contributing to historic downtown Hot Springs.”

The ARC Arkansas is already well-known in Hot Springs for its success in remodeling historic Hot Springs High School into 32 loft-style apartments and the adjoining auditorium into a public use facility. - Arkansas Times

The Hot Springs High School Lofts  consist of the historic restoration of the Hot Springs High School building, the high school of former President Bill Clinton, into thirty-two (32) loft-style apartments and the adjoining auditorium for public use and to house two restored classrooms containing Clinton memorabilia.
